What the AI looks for in Xbox 360 Interactive Gaming Figures

Matching game series: Figures only work in their own franchise: Skylanders, Disney Infinity or LEGO Dimensions Each series uses its own figures and readers, and they do not cross over.
Reader or portal required: You need that series' portal, base or toy pad, normally included in the starter pack, in a version labelled for Xbox 360 Loose figures do nothing without the series' reader, and readers are not always interchangeable across consoles.
Game generation compatibility: Older figures generally work in later games of the same series, but newer figure types often do not work in earlier games Examples include Skylanders traps and vehicles, which need the specific game and portal they were introduced with.
Platform independence of figures: Figures themselves are generally usable across consoles within a series You can buy loose figures from any platform's packaging, as long as your reader and game are for Xbox 360.
Completeness of starter packs: Check that a used starter pack includes the game disc, the reader and any needed cable or batteries Used kits often have the disc or reader missing.

Activision Skylanders: The largest figure library on Xbox 360. Portal types vary by game.
Disney Infinity: Released as 1.0, 2.0 and 3.0 on Xbox 360. Online features have since been shut down.
LEGO Dimensions: Uses a toy pad and buildable figure packs. Many levels are locked behind specific packs.
